2. Free Finance Class

2. Free Finance Course

I know that this seems like a crazy idea; however, there is a free, online site that offers multiple classes taught by university professors from colleges around the world.

www.coursera.org

They have a

Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning

course that is beginning on January 14th. The course is 6 weeks long and the full course takes 3-6 hours per week. You can skip around and just do the portions that interest you.

Week One: Goals
Week Two: Taxes
Week Three: Insurance
Week Four: Investing
Week Five: Funding Retirement
Week Six: Doing the Math and Making Reasonable AssumptionsEstate Planning Basics

Coursera has a number of other courses available as well, if you have an interest in learning something new this might be the way to go.  With the cost of everything on the rise, something for no money (just your time) is worth looking in to.

If you are interested in learning more you could also check out www.khanacademy.org. Although many of the lessons are not delivered by teachers (Kahn uses Learning Coaches), if you already know something about the topic and are looking for more information, this is a very good way to go.
