3. Homemade Dog Treats

3. Homemade Dog Treats

We have 1 medium size dog and 2 large dogs; we tend to go through a lot of treats. The price for treats continues to rise, especially the ones that my dogs really like. I found this treat recipe that they absolutely go nuts for. They can't wait for them to be made and they really like them.

Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Ingredients
  • 1/2 C. water
  • 1/2 C. oil
  • 2         eggs
  • 3 Tbs  peanut butter
  • 2 tsp   vanilla
  • 2 C.    flour
  • 1/2 C. cornmeal
  • 1/2 C. oats
Blend wet ingredients together. Whisk dry ingredients together.

Mix dry ingredients into wet mixture to form a ball of dough.

Turn dough out onto a non-stick surface.
Knead a few times to ensure that peanut butter is completely mixed in.

Roll out about 1/4-inch thick. Cut out shapes.

Re-roll out left over until all dough is used.

For the very last bit, push into the cutter making the shape 1/4-inch thick.

Put onto a non-stick cookie sheet. (You can lightly grease, if needed.)

Bake for 20 minutes at 400 F.

Turn off oven and allow treats to cool in the oven until crisp and hard.

Store in an airtight container or storage bag.

These are my dogs' favorite treats and they are pretty inexpensive to make.
There are many treat recipes available online at multiple web sites.
